We're staying at a few places throughout New Mexico. Clovis is our first stop.
We saw lots of alfalfa fields being plowed and rolled, saw cotton being planted and we saw tons of field with peanut plants that were about 12" high. Those tall structures are for storing corn and grain to sell. Pretty cool, the things you learn just driving along and looking things up on Google.
Stop 1: Clovis, NM
We're only in Clovis, NM for 1 full day before hitting the road again. Went to Clovis Park where we met the proud duck family of two ducklings. As you can see by Brandi's ears another windy day in NM.
The sign is the entrance to Clovis Rv Ranch. It's just a fancy name for a campground. And a few other signs along our travels getting to Clovis.
Hanging clothes under a tree on a windy, sunny day. That small camper and boat had me cracking up. We actually saw bumblebee while driving around town. And fun fact: the person who runs the Clovis RV Ranch is also an army vet.
Stop 2: Kirkland AFB
We're on our way to Kirkland AFB. We couldn't take a pic of the gate, pretty typical for bases. We saw lots of flat open land on our way here. Kind of wild how just a few hours on the road in the same state and everything is so different.
Not too much here besides Cottontail rabbits, oh Miles would have loved it. This one was around our camper the whole two days. I even fed it some carrots. AF jets going over on Friday afternoon and our view from our campsite.
We cam in around 3:30 on Friday and left Sunday morning. Windy and cold all weekend.
Stop 3: Cochiti Lake, NM
Welp, I thought it was a few hours away but it turns out it's only 1 hour and 19 minutes away. So today was a short day of traveling.
But the views are amazing.
The rocks are solid colors of white and pinks. Even found a few blue and green ones. And these cute little yellow flowers.
We had what we call "cowboy supper." We ate outside tonight and it was 50 and windy. We have to walk up railroad ties to get to our picnic table on top of this beautiful landscape. Sunsets are stunning and the night sky is so so black.
We're dressing warm here. Sat outside our first night to check out the stars. It was so dark and there were tons of stars. There's no light pollution out here. Even saw a shooting star.
Today we went on a hike. Only had to drive about 2 minutes down the road. It was about 2 miles and was along the lake.
This was a good hike.
There's a storm coming in.

Poor Pasquale was cooking pork chops right as it started to rain. So I took pictures and watched him from inside. It was a delicious meal.
Took a ride to Los Alamos, NM. This is where the atomic bomb was made that was dropped on Japan, Aug 14, 1945. Lots of hikes all around but being over 7000ft high, I quickly learning altitude was not my friend and made me sick.
Took pictures of the views from our camper. You have to walk up the railroad ties to get to the picnic tables. Such a unique place.
Our sunset last night was beautiful. I took one of these at night and the next morning, those mountains were filled with snow. The weather changes quickly around here. It was 32 and rainy last night with 40-50 mph winds. The sun is out this morning and the wind is light.
We're heading into the heat of AZ tomorrow.
We'll be happy to leave the cold weather behind. The locals are saying its been a cold and rainy spring.
I love your pictures and descriptions. Keep them coming. Stay well and enjoy every moment! ❤️. Renee
Wonderful adventure! Roll on! 🥰
