Nashville Continues | Post 2 of 2

Woke up today, my birthday, and we went to the Grand Ole Opry. They say it's the show that made country music famous. It was founded in 1925 as a one-hour radio "barn dance."

Some of the Grand Ole Opry’s most historic moments happened inside Ryman Auditorium but we toured it's newish house at the Grand Ole Opry House. And I'm telling you, it was impossible not to feel moved and have emotions take over.

That statute is Minnie Pearls. Before she died she said she wanted it brought home, and that meant here.

And then here are some pics of famous singers you'll recognize in the backstage areas.

The original circle was in the flood but they were able to get it out before it was destroyed.

This is the dress that Loretta Lynn wore on her debut at the Grand Ole Opry. Such an amazing woman with a voice to match. One of my many country female favorites.

A few pictures from the stage. I did something special when I was. I had the song my girl's father recorded in TN on my phone and I played the entire song on stage. Wanted to make sure his dream of playing at the Opry came true.

After we got out it poured! And we were all tired so we went back to the campsite.

Pasquale was anchoring down the awning and Lauramay was trying to keep him dry. I was just taking pictures and yelling at them from inside the warm camper.

And we figured we'd do a few other fixes while we were at it. And by we, I mean Pasquale. Inside the camper, he switched out all the lights from a dull yellow light to a bright led light.

Another day we decided to get out and explore Bicentennial Park. It was located downtown right next to the German district.

These tall pillars ring every 15 minutes and if you stand in the middle of the circle, your voice echoes.

A few cool history pieces at the park.

Then we went driving around and I saw a bunch of stairs (about 300) leading up to the capital and said, "hey, let's go climb those." Lauramay ran to the top and so did our 15 year old dogs. And Pasquale would have done the same but he decided to stay with me and take our time.

And you see that bell there? Well, Lauramay rang it once before we got up the hill and told us how loud it was. BUT you know Pasquale, he wanted to see for himself. It was so loud the dogs ran, cars stopped and even birds stood still mid-air. And now Pasquale has to wear one of those ear things are grandparents used to wear ;-) He holds it up to his ear to hear me now (hahahahahaha)

Last few hours back at the campground. Miles wanted to cozy up with his mama. It was sad to say goodbye at the airport that afternoon but we'll be seeing them for a few months from mid-Nov to April. And we'll be just 30 mins away from her, Joe, the boys and the new baby.

Rainy nights, Pasquale making sure all the scopa cards are here before we play. This was his mother Gemma's deck.

Deer finally showing up, sunsets and Miles getting his nails done.

This is what Pasquale has to do before we leave most campgrounds if we don'thave full hook up. He is emptying our tanks. Grey water is from the sinks and shower and black water is from ... the pooper.

And after we get this shit done, we're on our way to Memphis.
