"Looks like broccoli" Welcome to Tennessee

Writer: Joyce and PasqualeJoyce and Pasquale

Pasquale says the TN mountains remind him of broccoli because of how dense they are.

We arrived at Chester Frost Park. The campsite is sweet and we're about 6ft from the water but our neighbors are right on top of us. So you take the good with the not ideal. They're really nice so it makes it easy.

Just taking a walk to check things out. No deer but tons of geese.

Our first night here. Gotta love the sunsets...

Took a 2 hour tide into Georgia which brought us to our first Civil War battlefield in that state.

These statues showed the different states that had found in the battle on both sides. SO much history in this area. We drove and walked the battlefields. Most of the area has been or is being restored to how it would have been during the war.

These fences were exactly like what the farmers built to border their land. Also the soldiers would hide behind them as best as they could.

The tower was the Wilder Brigard monument which was an observation deck. It has 117 steps, all of which Pasquale counted. It was also 101 that day and we couldn't bring the dogs with us or leave them in the car (obviously).

A few more pics

Sitting around at the campsite one day and I look at Pasquale and say "I'm bored" and he says "Ok, let's go find something to do."

We decided to take a ride 1.5 hours away to find the 3 states that border each other. Tennessee, Alabama and Georgia. Along the way we found the factory lodge that makes the cast iron pans and pots, among other things. I got a new kettle to cook over the fire with and a few other things we needed. Onto the state line of the 3 states.

And here we are - where 3 states come together.

And we found the arch that says Tristate Corner. But someone took the plaque so we put our feet exactly where it would have been. Kind of random but there's a picnic table in the middle of the woods out here. No idea how it got here.

And the cemetery.

Explore Georgia and TN with my favorite guy behind the wheel and headed back to the campsite. Great 5 hours of exploring on a whim.

Last night here and then we head to Nashville. It's about 4 hours away (but with the time change it's only 3) and the 2nd place we'll be staying in TN.

Turns out... Nashville was 8 hours away. Messed that one up a smidge. :-)
